This website is a reflection of our deep love for Italy and our journey to owning a home in one of its most beautiful and unspoiled regions — Puglia. Whether you're a fellow Italy lover, dreaming of your own adventure abroad, or just curious about what life in Puglia is all about — you've come to the right place.

It's crazy, isn't it? Buying property halfway across the world with the hope that Ro and I — along with the rest of our family — will enjoy it now and even more so when we retire in a few years.

Our love of Italy, our ancestral home, goes back years. When we first started making regular trips there, we dreamed about owning a place in Tuscany, or maybe Umbria. But when the time came and we were finally ready, we chose the Puglia region.

Whenever we visited Italy, no matter the region, we always felt like we belonged. So it was no surprise when Ro and I took a "Where Should You Retire?" quiz and the answer came back: somewhere in southern Europe. Where else but Italy would make sense?

Puglia — or Apulia, as it's known in Italian — offers so much. Located in the "heel of the boot," this stunning region is just a few hours from Rome and blessed with two gorgeous coastlines along the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. The landscape is breathtaking — endless olive groves, rolling countryside, and charming whitewashed towns perched on hilltops.

But Puglia is so much more than beautiful scenery. It's a region steeped in history, from the trulli houses of Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to the Baroque splendor of Lecce, often called the "Florence of the South." Ancient castles, centuries-old cathedrals, and Roman ruins dot the landscape.

And then there's the food. Puglia is considered one of Italy's great culinary treasures. The region is famous for its incredible olive oil, fresh seafood, handmade orecchiette pasta, creamy burrata cheese, and rustic breads. Every meal feels like a celebration, whether you're dining at a local trattoria or enjoying a simple picnic under the Mediterranean sun.

What makes Puglia truly special, though, is its authenticity. Unlike some of Italy's more well-known destinations, Puglia remains refreshingly unspoiled. The pace of life is slower, the people are genuinely warm and welcoming, and the traditions run deep. If you search for the best places to visit in Italy, far from the touristy areas, Puglia consistently tops the list — and for good reason.
